Why You Should Work with IPv6 Compliant Email Service Providers | Clickback

Reading Time: 2 minutes

When we talk about Internet Protocol (IP), we’re basically referring to how devices connect, share and format data online. When you send out an email campaign, for example, you’re using an IP to reach out and communicate with your clients.

And that’s what it’s all about — communication.

Until recently, IP version 4 (IPv4) was the go-to IP. But businesses are starting to shift to IP version 6 (IPv6) and IPv6 compliant email service providers. Why the change?

Understanding the Drawbacks of IPv4

The shift to IPv6 compliant email service providers is really quite simple. Today’s business owners are looking for scalability and maximum deliverability. IPv4, though reliable, can’t provide the same opportunities as IPv6 compliant email service providers.

Here’s why… The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN) who manages the distribution of Internet number resources for all of North America has assigned all available IPv4 address and has completely exhausted its assignable address space meaning there are no more Ipv4 addresses to be assigned in North America.

Luckily, there is a solution…

Why IPv6 Compliant Email Service Providers Are Better

In essence, IPv6 compliant email service providers operate much like IPv4 providers. But there is one big difference — IPv6 utilizes 128-bit numeric addresses as compared to a 32-bit numeric address (ex: 192.168.7.555). These addresses look something like this: 2620:0003:a000:B6D2:7F25:CA27:FFFF:5B87. IPv4

What does that mean in plain, old fashioned English? It means that there are 340 undecillion IPv6 addresses ready and waiting, as compared to the 4.3 billion IPv4 addresses!

In other words, the chance of running out of IPv6 addresses is slim to none, allowing for maximum deliverability and scalability.

Why We Use IPv6 for Our Customers

When you’re dealing with IPv6 compliant email service providers, you don’t have to worry so much about unexpected downtime. That’s why Clickback MAIL uses IPv6, to ensure our customers are always up and running and experiencing maximum deliverability.

In fact, we became one of the first 100-percent IPv6 compliant email service providers back in 2016. While other ESPs and ISPs are just dipping their toes into the waters of IPv6, we’re already swimming in the deep end of the pool, with all of the necessary architecture and support fully in place.

While IPv4 may be tried and true, we at Clickback think IPv6 is the definite wave of the future where Internet Protocols are concerned. But don’t just take our word for it.

Need another recommendation? Gmail has also adopted IPv6, making their platform fully compatible with Clickback’s IPv6 sending!
